What is it?
After being forced to forego the 2021 Phil Peterson Key West Bike Run due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the iconic and highly anticipated event is back this year. The 47th Annual Phil Peterson Key West Run 2022 presented by Phil Peterson Charities, Inc. will take place September 16th, 17th, and 18th.
Beginning 45 years ago, Phil Peterson needed a way to rally the local Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and strengthen their community ties. It also needed to be a lot of fun! After speaking with local Motorcycle Clubs, Phil Peterson gathered enough people to embark on the first ever Poker Run from Miami to Key West. The inaugural trip included stopping at several bars and restaurants along the way to draw a card and arriving in Key West. Once the crew was ready, the Awards Dinner, Dance and Bike Show commenced.
The Awards Show consisted of a best dressed contest followed by the Field Meet where riders would compete in different events such as a slow race, roll a barrel with your front tire, etc. Once Sunday rolled around, everyone clamored back onto the road and made their way back home to Miami.
Today, the Key West Bike Run includes upwards of 15,000 riders! It has also proven to be a major economic boon for the city of Key West by selling out all major hotels for the day. This year, one lucky winner can take home $5,000 in cash while the entire crowd enjoys the shared enthusiasm, fun, and passion for Harley-Davidson®. While collecting different cards at each of the stops along the way to Key West, the best hand is drawn and the top ten get to play one round of Texas Hold ‘Em for the grand prize.
Riders who want to participate can sign up at either our Miami Gardens location or our Cutler Bay location. Poker hands can be purchases beginning September 1st, and at our Open House from the first week of September through the 15th (by 12 noon). A $10 donation per hand is required, and you can purchase as many hands as you’d like! In addition to Harley-Davidsons®, any make of motorcycle, car, or truck is welcome.
