The Harley-Davidson® 2021 Pan America™ 1250 Special

Introducing the Harley-Davidson® 2021 Pan America™ 1250 Special

The 2021 Harley-Davidson® Pan America™ 1250 Special  is one of the most anticipated new motorcycles to hit the market in a while. Many motorcycle manufacturers, including Harley-Davidson®, are funneling more research and development dollars into electrified motors. But with the Pan America™ 1250 Special, Harley-Davidson® remains firmly planted with traditional power and an exciting design meant to explore the open roads of Miami and South Florida both on and off road.

If you’re in the Miami or South Florida area and looking for a new Harley-Davidson® to choose, you may be asking yourself a few questions. Will this be my only motorcycle? Am I going for speed? Am I going for comfort? Does the motorcycle need a passenger seat so I can take a friend and cruise around Miami? Am I going to be driving mostly on the streets or would I want to take it off road?

The good news is that the new Harley-Davidson® Pan America™ 1250 Special answers all of these questions. It’s a motorcycle that’s meant to be Harley-Davidson’s premier two-wheel bike built to endure, designed for on-road and off-road exploration, and engineered for those who want to go places – wherever they may be. The new Pan America 1250 Special is the right back for enthusiasts who want excellent comfort and performance.

Powering the new Harley-Davidson® Pan America 1250™ Special is the Revolution® Max, a liquid-cooled powertrain with 150 horsepower, with plenty of torque, and strong powerband tuned to maximize rider control. The Revolution® Max 1250 is a structural component of the motorcycle chassis, eliminating a traditional frame. This greatly reduces the overall weight of the bike and maintains tight handling. The center of gravity is low and the chassis is quite rigid allowing the 150 horses to shine through and pull you wherever you want to be.

The Pan America™ 1250 Special also features the new Adaptive Ride Height feature meaning it’s the first Harley-Davidson® to feature this technology. The roads throughout Miami and South Florida can be filled with potholes, hazards, and wet streets before you even venture off road. Fortunately, this factory-installed option keeps the rider confident by lowering the seat height when stopped, and maintaining a constant, optimal suspension sag when cruising around South Florida at speed by adjusting preload while continuously sensing weight inputs. The semi-active front and rear suspension incorporates a linkage system connecting the shock, swingarm, and frame which provides dynamic control through the stroke. To make the rider even more comfortable when navigating the Miami cityscape, the semi-active suspension system provides five pre-programmed rider profiles: Comfort (for more suspension compliance), Balanced (for all-around riding), Sport (for maximum control and higher damping rates for spirited riding), Off-Road Soft (ideal of logging roads, washboards, and rocky terrain) and Off-Road Firm (increased damping for aggressive riding – ideal for softer terrain).

The innovative design also adds practicality to the bike. Plenty of off-road enhancements have been made to the bike including an aluminum skid plate, brush guards, steering damper, no-tool-needed adjustable brake pedal, and the semi-active front and rear suspension. Adding to the comfort and practicality is a six-axis IMU, customizable ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity, and moving map navigation featuring a 6.8” touchscreen display. Also available as a factory-installed option are tubeless laced wheels. The spokes are inserted through the aluminum wheel rim outside of the tire bed. This design eliminates the weight of an inner tube, and makes the spokes repairable in the field.

Lighting up the South Florida roads is the Pan America 1250 Special’s adaptive lighting which includes three LED elements per side, located just above the main Daymaker® headlamp. The adaptive lamps illuminate in sequence based on motorcycle lean angle at 8, 15, and 23 degrees.
